About Us

ABHIVRUDDI- Society for Social Development

Dedicated to the development of children, women and the environment in Tumkur, Hassan, Bellary, Bagalkot, Chitradurga districts and rural and urban areas of Bangalore Metro corporation.

Abhivruddi was established in 1992, by few social work professionals after undergoing rigorous training in Community development. The conditions of women in social and economic development were bad at the time and we decided to focus on empowerment of women and children, and natural resource management as the community was associated with agriculture and farmlands. Thus an integrated approach was planned focusing on women's overall empowerment in terms of social, economic, and political grounds, Child rights for safeguarding the community and natural resource management to enhance rural livelihoods.

Fostering a society wherein women are empowered enough to lead decent life; all children are healthy, happier and enjoy their childhood rights, especially with right to education; and creating sustainable and humane society wherein all living being have access to resources and manage their livelihood.

To promote sustainable rural development through appropriate development interventions based on local resources and with the involvement of local community based organizations.




Our Programs

Natural Resource Management (NRM) related projects

ABHIVRUDHI has been in the rural development since 1992 and had taken up the rural/urban development programmes in Tumkur, Hassan, Bellary, Bagalkot and Bangalore Districts. Both on-going and projects completed are presented below: Reproductive and Child Health (RCH): This project is mainly aims at reducing infant mortality and reproductive track infections among reproductive aged women. This project is being implemented in Hassan district as Mother NGO for which the financial assistance of Rs. 48 lakhs has been provided by the Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Government of India.

Women Empowerment Programmes

This project is mainly aims at reducing infant mortality and reproductive track infections among reproductive aged women. This project is being implemented in Hassan district as Mother NGO for which the financial assistance of Rs. 48 lakhs has been provided by the Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Government of India. Our organization is working as a Project Facilitating Agency (PFA) in Hassan District. The PFA is responsible for motivating and involving the village community in planning and implementing the watershed project.

Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development

Sustainable agricultural practices promoted through demonstration of organic farming in the working villages. Demonstration model plots were developed in selected villages with the support of government and other institutions. National watershed programmes (OPAP) and World Bank assisted Sujala Watershed Project has been implemented in 101 villages of GUBBI taluk, Tumkur district covering 15,153 hectares of land. Soil Water conservation works like earthen / boulder bunding, boulder checks, rubble checks, waste weirs, nala bunds, check dams, rooftop rainwater harvesting, etc., forestry, horticulture, livestock, income generation activities for promoting livelihoods of the landless and marginal families were planned and implemented in these villages.

Networking in Federations

At present Abhivruddi is a State Convener for Campaign Against Child Labour -Karnataka (CACL-K). an effective forum for campaigning and lobbying for total reduction of child labour in all the sectors and to secure rights of the children, with an active participation of hundreds of NGOs, progressive forums, mass based forums, unions, students, SHG federations, intellectuals and other concerned institutions.

Rescue and Rehabilitation of Children

Identified and released more than 3000 working children and re-integrated them successfully to mainstream schools . Currently 150 released working children are studying in bridge schools/tent schools/day care centers that are financially supported by the government and European donor agencies. Released Working Children Tent School: Four evening schools are run at Jamakandi Taluk, Bagalkot for school drop outs, released working children and children at risk. Abhivruddi is creating awareness among parents of these children and their village community members for defending child rights through advocacy. Abhivruddi is a registered not-for-profit voluntary non-government development organization. Presently organization is working in Six districts of Karnataka state, namely; Bangalore, Bagalkot and Bellary.

Development of Poor and Marginalized Families

Working with 580 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in 260 villages and 55 slums, with a membership of more than 6000 women form poor families. These SHGs not only manage the micro-finance activities, but also take-up various credit plus activities. The total savings in these SHGs is Rs.55 Lakhs. Around Rs.60 Lakhs loan/subsidies were mobilized from financial institutions and government departments. A Family Counseling Center is managed at Gubbi, Tumkur District wherein 83 family dispute cases and 81 alcoholism cases were studied and rehabilitation measures were adopted. Conducted awareness on social evils like problems surrounding to dowry and superstitious practices.

We launched a Programme to raise awareness about children's rights on August 3rd, 2021. The goal was to raise awareness about the assistance system that is accessible to children who are in need. It would assist the children, their moms, and their instructors on the Siddganga Mutt grounds in Tumkur in preventing child abuse and child marriage. We got out to 60 mothers, 30 teachers, and 20 children with the support of Shivraj - Project Manager Abhivruddhi Society for Social Development. In and of itself, this endeavor was a huge success.

Awareness Program

We conducted an Awareness orientation done for the Stree Shakti group.This activity was aimed to create the awareness on Child Trafficking, Child Labour and stopping underage marriage which took place at Jyothipura Village, Tumkur Village. Post. Mrs. Annapoorna - Gram Panchayat Member Jyothipura, Tumkur Taluk along with 4 of our staff members were present who helped out 60 beneficiaries from this activity.
